'Dance' from dream to investment
Local filmmakers are poised to turn a wild 1969 Sacramento indecency trial into a feature-length documentary exploring the impactful trial and looking at how things have changed 50 years since.
The trial over bottomless dancing at Orangevale's "Pink Pussy Kat" go-go bar made national news when Judge Earl Warren Jr. decided the jury needed to see the dancer "Do the Dance." The case went on to help write the rules to exotic dance across the country.
Using support from crowdfund backers, the project is about 40 percent shot as the team seeks the remaining funds needed to complete to project and release the film in 2019.
